The project's goal was to design a system for planning and controlling cloud-based data centers.
The recent EU-sponsored FiPS project (Developing Hardware and Design Methodologies for Heterogeneous Low Power Field Programmable Servers) is designing a new class of heterogeneous supercomputers based on energy-efficient alternative processing resources like the ones found, for example, in today’s low-power mobile devices.
London, UK, 21st May 2013 – The first prototypes of advanced tools designed to help improve the efficiency and sustainability of data centres have been released by the European Commission funded CoolEmAll project. Interested parties are now being invited to help test and refine the tools ahead of release in 2014.

In the October 2011 issue of iX, five workstations were tested. The TEO®|4|CAD by Christmann impressed the testers with its excellent graphics performance, fast mass memory and low energy consumption.
In two benchmark tests of Open GL and TOM2D the TEO®|4|CAD came out on top, and with Direct 3D it's in the top group as well. The price was convincing as well.
